Obituary* Obituary for Alfred Cookman Horner:
Alfred Cookman Horner was born April 18, 1883, in Newport, Campbell county, Kentucky. When just a babe his parents moved to Kansas, from there to Oklahoma in 1889.

When just a young boy he was converted and united with the Mehtodist church. On the 6th of August, 1905, he was united in marriage to Miss Sadie Wilson. To this union were born three children, Lucy B., age 14; Robert Newton, age 8, and Olive Helen, age 3.

Three years ago last December he went to Woodman, Colo., seeking his health, which he realized was fast failing. He returned in August somewhat built up and hopeful. But the dreaded disease, tuberculosis, was fastended upon him and for the past three years he has been terrible but patient suffered. Through these years scarcely a murmur has passed his lips and a sweet smile and a kind word always greeted his loved ones and friends as they came and went.

Still clinging to hope he, accompanied by his wife, his sister, Mrs. Hill, and her husband, started Wednesday, Sept. 1, to Albuquerque, N. M. He left his home and said goodby to his loved ones, cheerful and happy. And this spirit was particularly marked all the way. Until about twelve hours before death, the dreaded disease attacked the brain, and Alfred became unconscious and passed away in the Sanitorium Friday, Sept. 3, at 10:20 o'clock, never knowing that his hopes were blighted.

The last two weeks of his life were particularly victorious in that he was going to the "Home of the Soul."

Beside his immediate family, Alfred leaves to mourn his death, a devoted father and mother, two brothers and three sisters and a host of friends.

The body was brought back from New Mexico and a service was held at the home of his parents in Enid. At which place a funeral service was held in charge of Rev. M. Porter at three o'clock p. m., Sept. 6, after which the body was buried in Enid cemetery.10
