Flowers on the altar of the church and decorations in the Church Hall carried out the theme of the anniversary. Friends Gather Rev. J. P. Glanzer chose a sermon topic suitable to the occasion and later spoke briefly of the anniversary when between 75 and 80 friends and church members sat down to lunch in the Church Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Wedell were married in Houston, Texas, January 23, 1901, in a civil ceremony. Mr. Wedel is a native of Hallstead, Kan., and was born April 17, 1879. Following his marriage he moved to a farm about 22 miles from Houston where he raised his own broom corn for his products. His strength began to give out and about two years ago he retired. They continued to make their home here until a few months ago when they moved to Winton to make their home with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Allen. Family of Four Mr. and Mrs. Wedell had four children but lost one as a baby. A daughter, Theresa, who worked in Washington, D.C., was killed in an auto accident when she was 23 and a son, Dennis Clifford, died at the age of 31. Obituary* | Obituary for Jacob J Wedel: WEDEL -- Our father Jacob J. Wedel was born June 5, 1881, at Durham, Kansas, and passed away on May 29, 1952, in the Merced General Hospital, in Merced, California, at the age of 70 years, 11 months, and 23 days. A year ago father had a light stroke from which he recovered, being able to do light work. On May 27, 1952 he suffered another stroke which left him helpless and speechless, soon going into a coma till on May 29, when he quietly passed away. In the year 1897 he with his parents moved to Houston, Texas, where he grew to manhood. He felt his lost condition and in the spring of 1899 gave his heart to the Lord, and was baptized and added to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, by Min. T. A. Unruh. He was joined in Marriage to Elizabeth Koehn on October 23, 1910. To this union were born 3 sons and 4 daughters. Father and mother shared joys and sorrows for 24 years, and 6 months, when mother passed away. Father was of a quiet disposition, ready to testify for the Lord anywhere, also serving as deacon, to which office he was ordained on Dec. 31, 1922, by Min. T. A. Unruh. Mourning his passing are: 4 daughters: Mrs. Lillie Giesbrecht of Winton, Calif., Mrs. Frances Wine of Delhi, Calif., Mrs. Mary Smith of Montezuma, Kansas, and Mrs. Elsie Koop of Livingston, Calif., 2 sons, William of Dalhart, Texas, and Frank of Livingston, Calif., 27 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; five brothers: Andrew and Isaac of Winton, Calif., Dave of Fairview, Okla., Abe of Oakland, Calif., and Enoch of DeRidder, La. Also a host of relatives and friends. One son, Edwin, preceded him in death. We mourn not without a hope, but we are comforted in the conviction that father's life was a faith and hope of eternal life. -- The Family. Funeral services were conducted at Winton, Calif. on June 1st. Min. Jesse Koehn being in charge. The body was then shipped to Montezuma, Kansas for service and burial, to rest beside the grave of his wife and son. Services in Montezuma were conducted June 4, with Min. John A.
