Obituary* | Obituary for Ruth A Gladstone: Ruth Gladstone Canaday, daughter of Wm R and Malinda Walker Gladstone, was born in Gentry County, Mo. on April 11, 1887 and departed this life at her home in Worth, Mo. on March 15, 1942 at the age of 54 years, 11 months and 4 days. She was converted at the age of 17 and united with the Worth Baptist Church on January 5, 1905. She was compelled to give up church work the past few years on account of her health but prior to that she was a very active member having served more than 25 years as organist and for several years as a teacher in the Sunday School. She was united in marriage at the Gladstone home on January 1, 1915 to Lewis Canaday and to the union were born three daughters who were present with her at her passing. She is survived by her husband Lewis Canaday, her daughters, Mrs Dorthe Henderson, Worth, Mo; Miss Jeanne Canaday of the home; Mrs Catherine Lambert, Randolph Field, Texas; a granddaughter, Patty Ruth Henderson; her mother in-law Mrs Melvina Canaday Mash (sic); two sons-in-law, Earl Henderson, Worth; Lynn C Lambert, Randolph Field, Tex; a brother, Gilbert Gladstone, Worth; three nephews, Maxen Canaday, Ferguson, Mo; William Gladstone, U S S Prairie State, New York, N Y; Glazer Bowlin, Herford, Colo, and many other relatives and friends. Wonderfully blest with a rich capacity for friendship, her life had been such a great blessing to so many and her friends had brought so much sunshine into her life. God has no hands but ours to do kindly service, no hearts but ours to bring sympathy and understanding to needy hearts, no eyes to speak love but ours, no hands to extend the warm clasp of friendship. In all of this, she wrought in the Master spirit. Her father and mother both preceded her in death. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Happy Hustlers club. She was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly mmissed by all who knew her. Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Worth Baptist church. Sermon by Rev Vincent Gray of Albany. Music by Mrs Olive Gladstone and Wm Gladstone. Pall bearers were Ol Roberts, M L Dannar, John Lambert, Luther Pierce, N A Combs, Paul Todhunter. Flower girls were Mrs G W Mathews, Mrs Chas Hern, Mrs Edgar Murdock, Mrs Marion Schuster, Mrs M L Dannar and Mrs Luther Hager. Interment was in the Knox cemetery.3 |
