Obituary* | Obituary for Susanna Eck: SUSANNA ECK Funeral services for Susanna Eck, 89, were Friday, June 25, 2004, at the Church of God In Christ, Mennonite in Fairview. The Reverends Myron Nightingale and Gerald Kahn and Deacon Wayne Unruh officiated. Burial followed in the Cedar Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Fairview Funeral Home Inc. Susanna Eck was born May 26, 1915, to Henry A. and Eva (Koehn) Eck at the family farm north of Meno and passed away June 23, 2004, at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview. Susanna attended Cozy Palace Elementary School and completed all eight grades. She enjoyed the special holiday activities available at the school. Susanna and Walter H. Eck were married on Nov. 25, 1931. They lived in rural Major County near the communities of Homestead, Fairview, and Isabella, Okla. She filled the role of homemaker. That role was not easy without the modern conveniences of rural life enjoyed by today's average farm family. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her garden and yard, and delighted in harvesting the first ripe tomatoes of the season. Harvesting the black diamond watermelons was no easy task. She worked alongside her family until the melons were in the boxcars at the railroad station. Hallren's Poultry Processing Plant provided her with a steady income for a period of time. Susanna's life revolved around her immediate family, siblings and members of her deceased husband's family. Following Walter's death in 1977, she was faced with a new task, to be dependent on others, or pass the test to get her drivers license. She chose the latter. Armed with her license to drive, telephone and guidance from her sons, she gradually took charge of her life. In 1989, she decided she wanted a new Chevrolet car and purchased a blue Caprice Classic from the local dealer. She enjoyed washing, waxing and polishing that car. She would let her sons drive it, but when it came to mechanical maintenance, only the dealer was allowed to do the work. Susanna is survived by four sons, Vernon Eck and wife Ruth of Oklahoma City, Neal Eck of Isabella, Okla., Jerry Eck and wife Barbara of Yukon, Okla., and Walter "Walt" Eck and wife Kay of Woodward, Okla; two brothers, Harry Eck of Meno, Okla. and Lindy Eck and wife Effie of Enid, Okla; four sisters Kathryn Luscombe of Helena, Mable Buller of Goltry, Clarabelle and husband Henry Buller of Enid and Ella and husband Wesley Frantz of Fairview; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Eck of Fairview and Gustena Eck of Enid; four grandaughters, Christy and her husband Rich Wall, Lisa and her husband David Pitts, Renee and her husband Steve Lambert and Shannon Prahn; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, Irene Becker, Eva Koehn and Myrtle Smith; three brothers, Peter Eck, Lafey Eck and Roy Eck. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Church of God In Christ, Mennonite Church.2 |

Burial will follow in the Cedar Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. Neal A. Eck was born in Homestead, Oklahoma on February 7, 1938 to Walter H. and Susanna (Eck) Eck and passed away after an extended illness on January 28, 2012 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 21 days, while residing at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview.
