HANNAH KOEHN

Funeral services for Hannah Koehn, 94, was Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at he (sic) Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The Revs. Myron Nightingale and Randy Levings officiated. Burial followed in the Cedar Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

She was born March 18, 1908, at Isabella to Andrew B. and Helena (Buller) Wedel and passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Moundridge, Kan.

She lived with her parents on a farm at Isabella. She attended the Isabella school where her favorite subject was reading. She worked on her parents farm until her marriage. On Oct. 19, 1929, at the age of 21, she married Freeman Koehn, 23, from Fairview.

He was a farmer. They spent most of their married life on a farm in the Fairview community. They built a new home in Fairview six years before his death on March 2, 1982.

After marriage she was a homemaker. In later years she worked in housekeeping at the Fairview Hospital, and at the Classic Inn for 14 years. For many years she taught the Kindergarten Sunday School class and also helped with Vacation Bible School. In 1996 she moved to Moundridge, Kan., due to failing health.

She is survived by her son Galen Koehn and his wife, Sharon, of Lakin, Kan; two daughters, Joyce Smith and her husband, Dan of Deerfield, Kan. and Ilene Unruh and her husband, Donald, of Greensburg, Kan; three sisters, Hattie Schmidt of Moundridge, Kan., Annabell Schmidt of Fairview and Mildred Nightingale and her husband, Paul, of Ringwood; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, five brothers and three sisters.2
