Services for Henry A. Eck, 89, who died Tuesday in the Fairview hospital will be at 2 p. m. Today, Feb. 15, in the Church of God in Christ Mennonite with ministers George Nichols and Elmer Boehs officiating. Burial will be in Cedars (sic) cemetery under the direction of the Fairview Funeral Home.

Eck had lived in Major County since 1900.

He is survived by two sons Willie, Fairview, Walter, Isabella; Two daughters, Marie Eck, Fairview, Elizabeth Eck; a brother, Abe, Helena; a sister, Mrs. Fred Nightengale, Fairview; four grandsons and a great-grandchild.¹⁰

Services Held For Fairview Pioneer

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Penner, Fairview pioneer, were held yesterday morning in the Church of God in Christ Mennonite with George Nichols and Dan Smith officiating. Interment was in the Cedar cemetery under the direction of the Ingram Funeral Home.

Mrs. Penner, 79, died following six weeks of serious illness.

Mrs. Penner came to Fairview in 1905.

Pallbearers were Freeman Koehn, Corneal Koehn, Willie Eck, Dave Schmidt, Carl Nightengale and Wade Nightengale.

Survivors include her husband, Fred, of the home; six daughters, Mrs. Alfred Boehs, Isabella; Mrs. Elmer Boehs, Isabella; Mrs Art Koehn, Fairview; Mrs. Jess Nichols, Isabella; Mrs. Harlan Nightengale, Fairview, and Miss Ruby Penner, of the home; four sons, Eli, Frank, John, and Fred, all of Isabella; two brothers, Henry Eck, Isabella, and Abe Eck, Aline, and one sister, Mrs. Fred Nightengale, Fairview.¹²

ABRAHAM S. ECK

Services for Abraham S. Eck, 93, were at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 20 in the Church of God in Christ Mennonite. The Rev. Milton Boehs and the Rev. Carl Nightengale officiated. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Fairview Funeral Home.

Eck died Jan. 17 in an Okeene hospital. He was born Feb. 21, 1890, in Galva, Kan., to Abraham and Susanna Buller Eck. The family moved to the Fairview area when he was a young boy. He was a farmer all of his life.

In 1932, Eck moved to a farm northeast of Cleo Springs where he lived until 1979 when he entered a nursing home.

Survivors include nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 brothers and sisters.⁶

LYDIA NIGHTINGALE

Funeral services for Lydia Nightingale, 90, Fairview, were at 10:30 a.m. July 20 in the Church of God In Christ Mennonite Church with the Rev. George Nichols and the Rev. Elmer Boehs officiating. Burial was in Cedar Cemetery under the direction of Fairview Funeral Home.

Born June 17, 1892, in McPherson County, Kan., to Abraham and Susie Buller Eck, she moved to Fairview when she was 8 years old and spent her life in the area.

She married Fred Benjamin Nightingale Feb. 3, 1920, at Halstead, Kan. He died Jan. 1, 1982.

She was a member of the Church of God In Christ Mennonite Church and the Helping Hand Sewing Club.

Survivors are four sons, Herman, Ulysses, Kan., Carl and Ernest, Fairview, and Wade, Cleo Springs; three daughters, Olive Nightengale, Fairview, Geneva Nightingale, Halstead, and Mrs. Richard (Agnes) Jantz, Cleo Springs; one brother, Abe S. Eck, Okeene; 16 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and eight sisters.

Memorials may be made to Moundridge Manor.²

Services Held For Mrs. Nightingale

Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Nightingale, 66, were held Saturday in the Church of God in Christ Mennonite church with Elmer Boehs and Dan Smith officiating. Burial was in the Cedar cemetery with the Ingram Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Nightingale died in an Enid hospital Wednesday. She had been seriously ill just one week.

Mrs. Nightingale was born in Kansas, coming to Oklahoma in 1900 and settling in Fairview in 1923. She had made her home in Cleo Springs since 1939.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Waldo Ratzlaff, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Tom H. Robb jr., Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Roger McFadin, Pratt, Kansas; two sons, John A. of Grangeville, Idaho Julian of Cleo Springs; two brothers, Henry Eck, Fairview, and Abe Eck of Aline; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Penner, Isabella, and Mrs. Fred Nightingale, Fairview.⁹

Katie (Eck) Nightingale, the youngest daughter of Abraham and Susanna Eck, was born in McPherson County, Kansas on April 29th, 1894. She departed this life in St. Mary's hospital, Enid, Oklahoma, October 5, 1960 at 8:32 P.M. She was in failing health for the last 7 years.

In 1900 her family moved to Oklahoma and settled in the vicinity of Fairview where she grew to womanhood and received her education. On April 20, 1917, she was married to John L. Nightingale, also of Fairview. They left immediately for Washington D.C. where they lived until early in the year 1923 when they returned and made their home in Fairview. In the spring of 1939 they established a home on a farm four miles east of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma, where she resided the remaining years of her life.

Mother accepted Christ as her Saviour and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on January 28, 1923, remaining a faithful member to the end. She lived her Christian life in a quiet, exemplary way and left us with the blessed assurance that she was going to be with Jesus. She was the beloved mother of us five children and we have many precious memories to cherish.

Her husband passed away on August 3, 1952. Also one infant grandson preceded her.

She leaves to mourn their loss, two sons and their wives, John A. and Aline, Grangeville, Idaho, Julian and Janie, Cleo Springs, and three daughters and their husbands, Florence and Waldo Ratzlaff, Oklahoma City, Gloria and Tom H. Robb, Jr., Houston, Texas, two brothers, Henry Eck of Isabella and Abraham Eck of Aline, Oklahoma, two sisters, Mrs. Fred Penner Sr. of Isabella and Mrs. Fred Nightingale of Fairview, many nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.²
