MRS. HORNER DEAD AT 85

Mrs. Susie Annie Horner of 1602 Tucson, 85, known to many of the families and nursery members of two churches as Granny, died at 7 p.m. Thursday in a hospital here after a long illness.

Mrs. Horner had served as nursery supervisor for 17 years at Wesley Methodist Church and at Kentwood Methodist until failing health last year precluded further service.

Although she and her late husband, J. F. Horner, who died in 1943, had only one child, Elsie, they actually reared several others.

Mrs. Horner was born May 4, 1880, in Independence County, Arkansas, and was married in Arkansas to J. F. Horner in 1902. They moved to Big Spring in November, 1923. She was a charter member of the Wesley Methodist congregation.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Nalley-Pickle Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. C. W. Parmenter, who served her as pastor at Wesley and Kentwood, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Henry Salley, her present pastor, and the Rev. Jarrell Sharp, pastor of Wesley Church. Burial will be in the City Cemetery.

Surviving her are one daughter, Mrs. M. O. Hamby; a grandson, Raymond Hamby, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Dub Bryant. She also leaves four great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and one great-great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Nile Bailey, W. D. Lovelace, Frank Arner, Charles Richards, Luther Coleman, Cliff Hale Jr., Richard Shields and Weldon Nuckolls.³
