Effie Charity Canaday, eldest daughter of Carriger M and Susan J Smith, was born July 28, 1877 and passed away January 14, 1968.

Mrs Canaday attended the Willhite School and became a member of the Methodist Church at Worth, Mo. She also attended the Grant City Baptist Church.

She was married to Francis Russel Canaday on March 17, 1901 and they had two children, a daughter, Jennie Clause and a son, Clarence.

Preceding Mrs Canaday in death were her husband, daughter, two brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.

Survivors include: a son, Clarence Canaday, Grant City; a daughter-in-law, Margaret; one granddaugher, Mrs Paul Deatz; four grandsons, Norman Clause, Laren Clause, Jon Canaday and Ronald Canaday; 12 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Services were held at the Andrews Funeral Home on Tuesday, Janary 16, 1968. Rev Cleo Colville was in charge of the services with burial in the Mt Vernon Cemetery.2
