Name | Mamie E. Schuh was also known as Mae Schuh.1
Name | She was also known as Mae Lock.1
Note (fam) | She and Wilbert Edward Lock. WARNING: the information about these two people seems to have some significant flaws and is under review. I started finding some inconsistencies in the data which I have not resolved. The primary problem lies in that there is a marriage of Wilbert Lock to Mamie Schuh in 1900. However I know that when he died his wife's name was Mayme Gasdorf. Based on the similarity of the first names it would appear that these two people are the same person. However in 1900 Mayme Gasdorf would have been too young to marry (about 12 years old). Also, in the 1930 census, it appears that Wilbert married Mayme Gasdorf about 1922. There is other evidence that these are not two separate families. My guess is that Wilbert was married twice (in 1900 and 1922) and the similarity of the first names of the wives is just a coincidence.

Note | Augustin Steel. ATTENTION ALL RESEARCHER OF AUGUSTIN STEEL(E) who died in Amherst County, VA in 1790. The vast majority of people have this person as the same person as Augustin Stahl who came to America from Germany in 1752 and married Anna Elizabeth Nufer. Those are two different people. Augustin Stahl moved to Dauphin County, PA and died there in 1815. I have been unable to prove where Augustin Steel came from, however, there were a lot of Steel's in the same region of VA as Augustin Steel. It appears that most were Scot-Irish which makes me suspect that Augustin Steel may also have been Scot-Irish. Y-DNA testing may help determine if this is true. If there are any male descendants of Augustin Steel that also have the Steel surname, I would urge they consider doing a Y-DNA test. Hopefully something will show up which will point toward the origins or our Steel family. Note, that this does have to be a Y-DNA test. An autosomal DNA test like Ancestry does will not help.
