Joseph Horner
M, #12124, d. 1803
Parents
Person Source | | Joseph Horner had person sources.1 |
Military | | He served in the Revolutionary War for 7 years.1 |
Marriage | 22 Dec 1795 | He and Sarah Moody were married on 22 Dec 1795 in Shenandoah, Virginia, United States.2,3,4 |
Death | 1803 | He died in 1803 in Campbell, Virginia, United States. A History of Kentucky and Kentuckians was written over 100 years after he died so the reliability of the year of his death is low depending on how the authors of the sketch remembered. Additional support regarding the date comes from deed records where the latest deed found where he was a party was dated 14 Dec 1802 where he sold some personal property to Moses Moody. On 10 Jan 1805, Moses Moody was selling some land to Mitchell Robertson. This was done after Joseph's death and is the subject of a lawsuit brought by Joseph's children years later when they reached adulthood. That means that Joseph would have died between those two dates.
With regards to the location of Joseph's death, it seems more likely that he would have died in Shenandoah County rather than Campbell County. His son, John eventually did move to Campbell County but would have been too young (age about 7 in 1803) to have moved there on his own. It is possible that Joseph moved to Campbell County around 1803, taking John with him.1 |
