Canaday -- At his home in Vermilion Grove, Illinois, May 24, 1927, John F. Canaday, after a brief illness, aged 80 years. Born on a farm near Vermilion Grove, he spent his life in the vicinity, being influential and active in school and church affairs. He married Emily Larrance who preceded him in death 26 years ago. Their five daughters survive him: Mrs. E. C. Smith of Vermilion Grove; Mrs. Glen Walthall of Alamo, Texas; Mrs. Fred M. Fiedler of Los Angeles, Calif; Mrs. John Ryan of Denver, Colorado; and Mrs. Claude Larrance who had lived with her father since the death of her husband. All, except Mrs. Walthall, were present when death came. Service was conducted at the Friends church by the pastor, William S. Kitch, and burial was in the Vermilion Grove cemetery. 3 |
