CLARKSVILLE COLLECTIONS.

The funeral of Charles Rathvens was preached Saturday afternoon, at the M. E. Church by Rev. A. D. Maddox. The deceased has suffered untold pain for almost eighteen years, being afflicted with rheumatism contracted by exposure in the war. His disease had drawn every joint out of place, so he was helpless. He had not even been able to feed himself for several years. He bore his afflictions with a Christian spirit and waited patiently for the Lord's own time, saying "His will and not mine be done." He died Friday night near midnight. So has ended the life of a brave soldier and a true Christian. Our sympathies are with the bereaved family.4
